'About Us'

Tony Davies and Illtyd Griffiths are internationally recognised fly-fishing enthusiasts and both have represented Wales at top level competitions both nationally and internationally.

Illtyd Griffiths is a member of the Advanced Association of Professional Game Angling Instructors.

Both Illtyd and Tony have fished all their lives, are knowledgeable game anglers with a wealth of experience in fishing for trout, salmon and sea trout, and are willing to share their expertise and knowledge with you.

recently retired from the dental profession. He caught his first sewin (sea-trout) on a fly, on the Towy, when he was thirteen years of age, and since that day spent a disproportionate amount of time during the summer months, fishing at night rather than sleeping

He represented Wales on numerous occasions at trout fishing, being fortunate enough during the period to fish Internationals in England, Scotland, Ireland and of course on his own patch in Wales.

Illtyd is a qualified AAPGAI Master fishing instructor both in salmon and trout/sea trout disciplines. He still works part-time as a dental tutor, but spends the remainder either fishing, instructing or guiding.

His main passion these days is salmon and sea trout fishing - this has led him on numerous occasions away from his beloved Welsh rivers to the Kola Peninsula in Russia and to Patagonia. He hosts trips to Rio Gallegos in Patagonia every February/March

Illtyd regards himself in being lucky to have an uncle who taught him to fly fish for sea trout at an early age and the fact he has lived throughout his adult life close to some of the best fly fishing in Wales. He rarely these days fishes anything but the fly and is very happy to impart his knowledge to others.

Tony Davies

recently retired from his career with Hyder where he had been Business Development Manager. A large part of his work was in the management of Hyder's many fisheries throughout Wales.

He is proud to have been taught to fish by his father, an avid game fisherman, and caught his first trout on the fly at the age of eight and his first sewin on the river Dovey aged twelve.

Tony has represented Wales in trout fishing, both at World and Home International levels, and has fished in North America, Europe, South Africa, Ireland and throughout the British Isles. He enjoys salmon and trout fishing but above all, pursuing his beloved sewin at night on the fly is now his main fishing preoccupation.

Tony runs his own Auction Company, Country Leisuresport Auctions, specialising in the sale of antique and modern fishing tackle as well as sporting guns, rifles and shooting accessories. He enjoys nothing more than having the opportunity to pass on knowledge, gained from his many years of experience in fly fishing, to anyone, what ever age or ability, particularly when guiding at night for sea trout.
